The Naganathaswamy Temple at Thirunageswaram is the Navagraha temple for Rahu, the ascending node of the Moon. It is a short drive from Kumbakonam.

Significance

Rahu is depicted here in human form with his consorts, and devotees perform milk abhishekam during Rahu Kalam — many believe the milk appears to change colour as it flows over the idol. The temple is visited for relief from Rahu dosha and sarpa dosha, and by couples praying for marriage and children.

The temple is also a significant Shiva shrine praised in the Thevaram.
