The Arulmigu Mariamman Temple at Samayapuram is one of the most powerful and most visited Amman temples in Tamil Nadu. Devotees come from across the state to seek the blessings of the goddess, particularly for health and protection from illness.
Significance
Mariamman is venerated in Tamil Nadu as a protective mother goddess, traditionally associated with rain and the healing of fevers and poxes. At Samayapuram, the goddess is believed to be self-manifested (swayambu). Many devotees make vows here and return to fulfil them with offerings.
