The Naganathaswamy Temple at Keezhperumpallam is the Navagraha temple for Ketu, the descending node of the Moon. It sits in a small village close to Poompuhar, the ancient Chola port at the mouth of the Kaveri.
Significance
According to legend, Ketu — separated from Rahu after the churning of the ocean — worshipped Lord Shiva here and was blessed. Ketu is depicted with the head of a serpent and the body of a man, worshipping Shiva with folded hands. Devotees visit for relief from Ketu dosha and to seek spiritual progress.
