At Vaitheeswaran Kovil, Lord Shiva is worshipped as Vaidyanathaswamy — the divine physician — and the temple is the Navagraha shrine for Angaraka (Chevvai, or Mars).
Significance
Devotees believe that praying here can cure illnesses, and many come to offer thanks after recovery. The Goddess is worshipped as Thaiyal Nayaki, who is said to carry a vessel of healing oil. The temple also has an important shrine to Muthukumaraswamy (Murugan). The temple’s sacred tank, Siddhamirtham, is associated with healing.
