Tour Overview

This four-day journey is the classic pilgrimage of the far south, linking four great temples along the Tamil Nadu coast.

It begins at the Meenakshi Amman Temple in Madurai and continues to the island of Rameswaram for the Ramanathaswamy Jyotirlinga. From there the route follows the coast south to Tiruchendur, where Lord Murugan’s temple stands on the seashore, and ends at Kanyakumari — the southern tip of India, where three seas meet.

Each overnight stop is chosen so that you can attend darshan in the evening or early morning, when the temples are at their most atmospheric. A private vehicle makes the long coastal drives comfortable and lets you stop wherever you wish.

Suggested Itinerary

  1. Day1

    Madurai to Rameswaram

    Madurai → Pamban → Rameswaram

    Morning darshan at the Meenakshi Amman Temple. Drive to Rameswaram across the Pamban bridge. Evening darshan at the Ramanathaswamy Temple. Overnight in Rameswaram.

  2. Day2

    Rameswaram to Tiruchendur

    Rameswaram → Dhanushkodi → Tiruchendur

    Early holy bath at Agni Theertham and the temple theerthams, and darshan. Visit towards Dhanushkodi if access permits. Drive south along the coast to Tiruchendur. Evening darshan at the seashore Murugan temple. Overnight in Tiruchendur.

  3. Day3

    Tiruchendur to Kanyakumari

    Tiruchendur → Suchindram → Kanyakumari

    Morning darshan at Tiruchendur. Drive to Kanyakumari, visiting the Suchindram Thanumalayan Temple on the way. Sunset at the confluence of the seas and darshan at the Bhagavathy Amman Temple. Overnight in Kanyakumari.

  4. Day4

    Kanyakumari to Madurai

    Kanyakumari → Tirunelveli → Madurai

    Watch the sunrise and, if the ferry is running, visit the Vivekananda Rock Memorial. Drive back to Madurai for your onward journey.

  • The tour can end at Thiruvananthapuram (for flights and trains) instead of Madurai — just ask.

Can the tour start or end in Thiruvananthapuram?

Yes. Thiruvananthapuram is close to Kanyakumari and has a major airport and railway station. We can plan a one-way tour from Madurai to Thiruvananthapuram or the reverse.

Can we add Palani or Srirangam?

Yes. Add a day at the start for Palani (if coming from Coimbatore) or for Srirangam and Samayapuram (via Tiruchirappalli).
