Tour Overview
Mysore is surrounded by temples of great importance, and this day tour brings three of them together.
The morning begins on Chamundi Hills, at the temple of Goddess Chamundeshwari, patron deity of Mysore — ideally early, before the crowds. On the way down, stop at the great monolithic Nandi. The tour then heads south to Nanjangud, where Shiva is worshipped as Nanjundeshwara on the banks of the Kapila.
In the afternoon, drive north to Srirangapatna, an island in the Kaveri and home to the Sri Ranganathaswamy Temple — one of the three important Ranganatha shrines along the Kaveri, along with Srirangam in Tamil Nadu.
The tour works for families staying in Mysore, as a long day trip from Bangalore, or as part of a journey between Mysore and Ooty.
