South of the city, on the banks of the Kapila river, the Nanjangud Srikanteshwara Temple is one of Karnataka’s most important Shiva temples. To the north, the island town of Srirangapatna is home to the Sri Ranganathaswamy Temple. All three are covered in our Mysore temple day tour.

Onward journeys

Mysore connects naturally to Ooty through the Bandipur and Mudumalai forests, and on to Coimbatore, where you can visit Marudamalai and Isha. Heading north-east, the highway to Bangalore has several temple stops along the way.
